CAN YOU... put 10 pistol shots in a 3 inch circle at 50 yards? In a 1 inch circle at 25 yards?
Would you like to? Bullseye Pistol is a great game and one of the most challenging handgun sports. Also, no matter what your other interests in pistol shooting may be, Bullseye practice and matches will improve your skills. Mastering the basics of Bullseye Pistol will make you better at action pistol, silhouette pistol, etc. Bullseye Pistol is the same type of competition used for NRA’s National Pistol Championship Matches at Camp Perry Ohio since the 1920’s. No one has ever shot a perfect score in the regulation 270 shot match. The open record still stands from 1976 (shot with iron sights, although optics and dots have been allowed in more recent years.) Bullseye matches are shot standing, one hand only, no support of any type. Three guns are used: .22 caliber, center-fire at least .32 caliber, and .45 caliber. Most competitors use the .45 for the center-fire stage, eliminating the need for a third pistol. You do not have to shoot the whole match. Many new competitors start with just the .22, or just the .45 if that’s the pistol they’re familiar with. Shooters compete within NRA classifications, so everyone has a chance at class wins. MSA competitors include the full spectrum from beginners to High Masters. In fact, one of the current MSA range record holders is Darius Young, a legendary Bullseye and International shooter, distinguished alumnus of the United States Shooting Team, and a two-time Olympian (Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992). 2005 match dates are March 20, April 17, May 15, June 12, July 10, August 7, September 4, October 2, and November 6. Matches begin at 10 a.m. Also, we'll have organized practice sessions in between matches. New competitors and new shooters are always welcome; plenty of advice and introductory individual coaching is always available from experienced competitors.
